D Aspartic acid is a non essential amino acid which means that it is produced naturally by the body and is not required to be taken orally through food or supplements.  The main function of

D Aspartic acid is to boost testosterone levels in males and thereby increase fertility rate in men. As the importance of D Aspartic acid became popular, it came out as supplement form in the mid 90’s. These supplements were widely used for purpose of increasing testosterone level in men and also used by bodybuilders and athletes for increasing strength and promote muscle growth.

D-Aspartic Acid And Its Effect On Testosterone Levels

D Aspartic acid affects

The detailed process of how D Aspartic acid affects testosterone levels is explained very well. An increased level of D Aspartic acid in the brain stimulates the hypothalamus to release high quantities of Prolactin Releasing Factors (PRFs), Growth-Hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) and Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH).  These inturn stimulate the pituitary gland to produce high amounts of luteinizing hormone (LH) and growth hormone (GH).  With the increase in LH and GH in the body we can assume that there will be an increase in testosterone levels also in body as LH is the precursor hormone for testosterone and an increase in growth hormone boosts testosterone levels in body. D-aspartate is an amino acid.

Since D Aspartic acid is a naturally occurring amino acid in the body, hence it is considered to be safe to consume as supplements also. But certain side effects have also been noted. Long Term consumption of D Aspartic acid has not been researched hence no relevant information is available about the effects of D Aspartic acid on consuming for long durations. Pregnant and lactating women should avoid consuming supplements of D Aspartic acid unless directed by the physician. Certain side effects like headaches, acne spread all over body, severe diarrhoea and mood swings and depression also set in on over dosing of D Aspartic acid supplements.

But the major advantage of D Aspartic acid supplements is that it is clinically proven to be safe when taken in recommended dosage.  The most important advantage of D Aspartic acid supplements is that it results in an increase in level of testosterone thereby boosting fertility in men. But it should be note that D Aspartic acid supplements only have an effect on those men whose testosterone levels are below the normal range. These supplements are also very beneficial to those men who are into bodybuilding. With an increase in testosterone level in our body, the fat in our body gets converted into lean muscle mass. Thereby it is consumed very popularly by athletes so that they get stronger muscles and power to perform much better.

Thereby we can conclude by saying that when D Aspartic acid is taken within the recommended dosage it is very beneficial for men. But in an attempt to get high results one should avoid over dosage as it would only harm the person and would not make any significant improvement in him.
